 Complications of diabetes can be serious and affect various parts of the body, including the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart, and blood vessels. Long-term complications may include diabetic retinopathy (leading to blindness), diabetic nephropathy (kidney damage), diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage), cardiovascular disease, and foot problems that can result in amputation.
